Japan eSIM data usage checklist for travelers

A Japan travel eSIM has two separate data-control systems:

• Your iPhone: the selected mobile-data line, app-level cellular permissions, and current-period statistics.
• Your provider account: package balance, alerts, validity, and any stated top-up or renewal option.

The iPhone counter records device usage; use the provider account when the remaining allowance or plan status matters.

Before purchase
